Julia Levinson (’11), the starting setter on the girls varsity volleyball team played an incredible game Tuesday night as Frisch beat Ramaz in a close match. Julia, who has been a setter since freshman year, moved up to varsity last year as a sophomore, and continues to excel on the team. Setting is known to be one of the more difficult positions to play on the volleyball court, and setters frequently do not receive the proper credit for their hard work. Julia’s job is to set the ball up for the spikers to win the point. Frisch came from behind to win an extremely close first game, and lost the second game by only a few points. The teams then went on to play a third tie breaker game, where Julia played a vital role in the victory. When the Frisch team looked distressed, as Ramaz needed only a few more points to win the final game, Julia held herself and the team together, thereby enabling Frisch to win the game. Julia returned several hard Ramaz serves, and was continuously on the floor diving for the ball. She saved many balls that would have otherwise dropped, and constantly set the ball with precision, which allowed her teammates to come down with hard spikes. With awesome sets and a killer serve, Julia regularly plays a key component on the Frisch girls varsity volleyball team, and says she plans to continue to do her best and “help Frisch claim the title of league champions!”
