Located in the one section of Cedar Lane not known for Kosher food, is none other than Shalom Bombay, a Kosher Indian Cuisine restaurant. Using, as Shalom Bombay boasts, “exotic Indian spices,” customers are offered a unique experience while dining at Shalom Bombay.
The restaurant is pleasant, spacious, and dimly lit. The service is remarkable, and at times overkill – I was unable to finish my entire glass of water before it was refilled. At one point, I believe a waiter poured more water into my glass before I had even taken a sip of what was originally poured into it only moments before.
Customers will have a difficult time choosing from the menu as many of the choices are very similar and all nearly impossible to pronounce correctly without previous knowledge of Asian Cuisine. There are more or less four types of meat – fish, chicken, beef, and lamb – in addition to the vegetarian section. Most food is served in either a sauce or dryly spiced. Customers have the choice of mild, medium, or spicy, and the food is served true to specifications.
The portions are filling, but for the money, many will feel they have overspent. A hungry customer will easily spend $25 before tip and tax.
In all, Shalom Bombay offers a unique Cuisine for the daring customer willing to try something new. They will not be disappointed with the quality of the food or service.
